Quick Record Review: Phosphorescent - Here's to Taking it Easy

In short, Phosphorescent is one of the very, very few bands that is truly keeping the spirit of American country/blues rock and roll alive. This album is through and through fantastic. And, save 3 or 4 songs, it could have been released 40 years ago. I think that's important. Some of us may forget sometimes, but The Band, Dylan, the Dead...these are the bands that all bands should sound like. And I know I love some Dirty Projectors or what have you, but if I'm trying to drink some Budweisers and party with my friends, my money is with Phosphorescent any day.

It also has the same live feel that you get from The Band, Dylan, the Dead et al. In today's world of studio trickery, an album that has dueling guitars and lots of good old country rock improvisation is so fucking satisfying. A perfect album is necessarily far from perfect.

In conclusion, I highly recommend this to you if you really listen to good music.
