look, i know i put a lot of pictures of sawyer up here and that it is boring for those of you who aren't desperately in love with him...but this is really cute. actually, what could be cuter than a dog who comes and lays next to you, rests his little head on your shoulder, and falls asleep. everybody needs a shoulder to lean on. even dogs.

No need to vote. I know exactly what Billy will be in 30 years. Case closed.

This website is crazy...you type in someone's name and it tells you exactly what their future holds, including a picture. Here's what you get when you type in 'Billy Rosser'.

I just listened to the Trailer Park Boys interview on The Sound of Young America. It gave me a feeling that I think was comparable to the feeling Ben described when watching the new episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

And if you don't know, now you know! New hottest blog on the internet...SPANIEL FOR TWO!

Elliott Smith died 6 years ago, today. Make sure to listen to him.

Annie and I went and saw Dirty Projectors last night and it was unbelievable! I know I'm an exaggerator, but I really do mean this...if it wasn't the best show I've ever been to, it was absolutely in my top 3.

I think I could write a book with all of the reasons it was that amazing. For that reason, I don't think I can really go through all of them here. But in quick sum: the girls in the band apparently invented a new way of singing that is outstanding, every single person in the band is talented in a classically trained, professional, mind blowingly insane way, nobody is writing songs like that, it was the first night of (what I assume is) their break out tour and it was at the ottobar, the crowd was awesome and erupted for over 30 seconds after every single song and you could see their surprised and elated reactions clearly, the sound guy was perfect, they played for over an hour and it felt like maybe 5 minutes. None of that can do it justice. You just have to trust me. And go see for yourself. Everyone of you...please!

San Franciscans...November 1st at Bimbos. Get tickets in case it sells out.
Sterling/Mia, I think Denver is the closest to you...maybe too far. Maybe not?

Adam, I'm singling you out buddy. You probably wouldn't read this and be inclined to go. But you should. I'll even cut you a deal. If you go and don't enjoy it, I'll buy your ticket. They are at Echo Park in LA on Halloween.

this came from ?uestlove's twitter. pretty awesome. try and figure out how they do that with their voices...it's magic.

annie and i are going to see them tonight. don't be jelly.
So i couldn't find a newspaper in my building today, so I walked next door into the engineering building to find one. I didn't find one...but I did find a building that was built 500 years in the future. It's insane!!! My buildings were built in the 60s maybe, probably earlier. This shit is from the future. The first two rooms I passed were: Advanced Robotics and Virtual Reality Lab. Then I found the lobby where people were sitting on fucking floating chairs. HOVER CHAIRS!!!

I found these sweet pictures on the engineering website. Their banner seriously reads:

We're going to see this madman tonight!
so I'm not a grizzly bear fanatic. i've tried to avoid them for a while, but they played on conan obrion last night with the girl from beach house and it was soo good. you should find it.

find it by clicking here.

also, the new flaming lips is awesome. they could release a super produced pop album and sell a shit load of it, but instead they released a crazy, inaccessible, and awesome psychprogmetalexperimental album.

and the cover is awesome.

Sike. I did. Don't listen to this shit.

Just got this in my email...pretty insane! Headlining Rams Head Live!?! And them promoting the shit out of it...his name is second in the subject line of the email!
I see in the future a crisis approaching that unnerves me and causes me to tremble for the safety of my country. As a result of the war, corporations have been enthroned and an era of corruption in high places will follow, and the money power of the country will endeavor to prolong its reign by working upon the prejudices of the people until wealth is aggregated in a few hands and the Republic is destroyed. I feel at this moment more anxiety for the safety of my country than ever before, even in the midst of the war."

Two things I'm listening to a lot: Islands and Girls. They are both very good. Not to be confused with girls playing music on islands, which may very well be good in its own right. But both their new albums are really great. You should probably make a point to listen to both.

I've got a bone to pick and some records to praise. First I'll praise the records...

THE NEW BEATLES REMASTERS ARE FUCKING INCREDIBLE!!!!!

These are no run of the mill remasters. What would you say if I told you that you can listen to your favorite song in the world...one you've listened to hundreds, maybe thousands, of times...but it will sound better than ever?!?! At first I didn't really buy into it when I heard there were amazing remasters coming out because remasters are constantly coming out, but then played my old cd's (1987 remasters) and listened to the remasters right next to them and the difference was striking. In the best way. There is a little organ riff on 'I Want You (She's so heavy)' that is amazing and I didn't even know it existed!

It all sounds so good. And of course reminds me, yet again, that they are the greatest thing to ever happen to music.

Which brings me to the bone I have to pick. This is no small bone. This is the fucking humerus. This is the humerus named Billy Rosser. You're in deep shit buddy. I heard you said the Kinks are as good as/better than the Beatles. Are you out of your mind? I heard you and Danny jumped down Ben's throat for (factually) claiming that the Beatles are the best band of all time. The Rolling Stones aren't even close, but that's at least a better argument than the Kinks. Please explain yourself.
So Annie and I were just talking about shows coming up this month...it's insane! There are sooo many good ones. Don't be jealous, but we're going to see:

1) Phosphorescent
2) Dirty Projectors
3) Islands
4) Loudon Wainwright III
5) Girls
6) Andrew Bird
7) St. Vincent
8) Dead Man's Bones (Ryan Gosling's Band?!??)

October is the month of awesome shows!
