Annie is transforming as she cleans.

So, I'm pretty torn. I've got a pretty tough decision here, so you have to help. Sunday is the Chesapeake Bay Blues festival. The plan has been to go for a really long time. Tickets were $40 and Chuck Berry is headlining. Wow! Sounds like I should go, right? But now, tickets are off-sale until the day of, when they will be $65. Additionally, it's supposed to thunderstorm all day. This changes things...so first it was $40 for a day swimming and playing in the sun (and seeing CB!!!, obviously) now it's sitting in the rain all day waiting for chuck berry or just showing up and watching CB in the rain, for $65!!! All the while, the Lost series finale extravaganza is sunday night and that's starting to look pretty appealing. What do you think we should do?

Create myspace graphic with Gickr

one bridge appears and another disappears. see if you can guess the months, or season, without looking, based on the algal growth.

I like using roads and water on google earth to get to places I know...who's been here before?

UPDATE: I see that the dock was an addition made after 1994. I'm a detective.

This is nice. It's a Graham Nash song, with new music and in spanish.

All sorts of things...
1) Fast Charles' Power Hour

Charles has been podcasting, and it is awesome. Each episode is one full hour of sweet country tunes (Real country music, the awesome kind). You can download them right off his blog, here.

2) Gay Marriage

Laura Bush supports it. That's pretty awesome. This graph is also interesting. It's nice to see that a lot of the bigots in this country will die soon. Sorry if that's mean.

3) Organic Chemistry

I passed it motherfuckers! Maybe even got a B. And I never will study it again.

4) Northern Lights

Stop drooling, Danny and Billy...I'm talking about the real Northern Lights. Can you believe this?

Don't get too excited, but it's looking like there is going to be a new Guilty Pleasures album sometime in early June. We've got at least 6 new songs and I figure if we rework a couple old ones and do a cover, that's a full fucking album.

And it is also looking like this may be shaping up to be the finest GPs album yet. It's going to be the first album recorded on equipment that cost more than a couple hundred dollars. The first album featuring a full band, live recording, and back up singers. The line up for the band is looking awesome: Chris and I - duh, Sterling!!, Annie!!, Matt Bowers!!, motherfucking Sam Wetterau, and that ol cat Larry Sheffey. We're recording it at the Names' studio, so maybe/hopefully Harrison and Kit will lend a hand as well. And by a hand, I mean I know Kit can play the saxophone...that would be next level. Anyone else that is down to come sing on it, let me know (I'm looking at you Matt Lowe, Mazzolio, Rick and/or Scott Rattler).

The idea is that we are going to take a few hours one day to learn and practice the songs, and then another day to record. Hopefully the end product will require no more than 10 hours work. I think this limitation will only have good consequences.

So, now we need a name for the album. If there are any themes throughout the songs, they are ghosts, beer, and goatmen. Any ideas? Meet Me at Crybaby Bridge?

Also, just found this old gem on the dusty old myspace page...

So, it's pretty important that everyone sees this. It's really excellent. Also, to those of you who have a sort of vague idea about what I've been studying...this is it.

Quick Record Review: Phosphorescent - Here's to Taking it Easy

In short, Phosphorescent is one of the very, very few bands that is truly keeping the spirit of American country/blues rock and roll alive. This album is through and through fantastic. And, save 3 or 4 songs, it could have been released 40 years ago. I think that's important. Some of us may forget sometimes, but The Band, Dylan, the Dead...these are the bands that all bands should sound like. And I know I love some Dirty Projectors or what have you, but if I'm trying to drink some Budweisers and party with my friends, my money is with Phosphorescent any day.

It also has the same live feel that you get from The Band, Dylan, the Dead et al. In today's world of studio trickery, an album that has dueling guitars and lots of good old country rock improvisation is so fucking satisfying. A perfect album is necessarily far from perfect.

In conclusion, I highly recommend this to you if you really listen to good music.

We got a theory, see like, we got a theory about magic and miracles. That’s right…
If magic is all we ever known then it’s easy to miss what really goes on, but I have seen miracles in every way and it have seen miracles every day, Oceans spanding beyond my site, and a million stars way above em at night, we don’t have to be high to look in the sky, and know that is a miracle open wide. Look at the mountains trees the seven seas, and everything chillin under water please, hot lava, snow, rain and fog, long neck giraffes, pet cats and dogs. I have seen 85 thousand people all in one room together as equal, pure magic is the birth of my kids I’ve seen shit that shock your eyelids, the sun and the moon even mars the milky way fuckin shooting stars, ufo’s, a river flows, plant a little seed and nature grows, Niagara falls and the pyramids, everything you believed in as kids, fuckin rainbows after it rains, there’s enough miracles here to blow your brain, I fed a fish to a pelican and Frisco bay and he tried to eat my cell phone he ran away, and music is magic pure and clean you feel it you can hear it and it can’t be seen.
Are you a believer in miracles? (Music it’s all magic, you can’t even hold it) Do you notice and recognize miracles? It’s just there in the air, are you a believer in miracles? (Pure motherfucking magic, this shit will blow your MF mind.)
Music is a lot like love, it’s all a feeling and it feels the room from the floor to the ceiling, I’ve seen miracles all around me, stop and look around its all astounding, water, fire air and dirt, fucking magnets, how do they work? I don’t want to talk to a scientist, ya’ll MF lying and getting me pissed, solar eclipse and vicious weather, 15,000 Juggalos together and I love my mom for giving me this time on this planet, take nothing for granted, I seen a caterpillar turn into a butterfly, miracles aint nothing to lye, shaggys little boys look just like shaggy and my little boy looks just like daddy, miracles each and everywhere you look and nobody has to stay where they put, this world is yours for you to explore, it’s nothing but miracles beyond your doors, the dark carnival is your invitation, to witness that of there our explanation, take a look at this fine creation and enjoy it better with appreciation, crows ghosts, the midnight coasts, the wonders of the world, mysteries, the most. Just open your mind and in no way to ignore the miracles of everyday, that’s real.
Are you a believer in miracles? (Magic every in this bitch, it’s all around you and you don’t even know it.) Do you notice and recognize miracles? It’s just there in the air, are you a believer in miracles? (Pure motherfucking magic, this shit will blow your MF mind.)
