Okay, okay. Sterling did it first. Then Danny came through. Now, Adam. Adam already wins for not doing a top 10 and also for including his favorite snack of the decade. (Spoiler: It's pickle with potato chip) So, I've gotten almost all of my work done and figured this morning is the morning. It's nothing original really, and oh my god last year's list was really good. I was thinking this year is better, but it's really hard to say. Who knows?

THE BEST ALBUMS OF 2009, IN MY OPINION.

16. Bob Dylan: Together Through Life

I'd probably still put this on here even if I didn't like it.

15. Bonnie "Prince" Billy: Beware

Don't forget about this psychopath.

14. Rattler: Incoming

It has been a long time coming and well worth the wait. Top notch, awesome party music including a full on skit intro to a song with cops spotting the band drunk driving! Perfect.

13. Bowerbirds: Upper Air

New to me, and I'm loving it! Very nice to listen to.

12. Islands: Vapours

Pop Perfection!

11. Woods: Songs of Shame

Tight distorted voice, jerk. Really a good album though. See: Military Madness

10. Loudon Wainwright III: High, Wide, and Handsome: The Charlie Poole Project

Duh. Basically, the coolest dude reworking the coolest dude's songs.

9. Cass McCombs: Catacombs

Got this when it came out and let it fade away. Danny reminded me, it's about as good at it gets...absolutely a great album.

8. Wye Oak: The Knot

Should be number one just for being from Baltimore. One of my favorite songs of the year is on this album.

7. Vetiver: Tight Knit

This album shakes me up inside!

6. Phosphorescent: To Willie

One of the best live shows around...Phosphorescent tributes Willie Nelson with grace and elan.

5. Girls: Album

Comin' up with the ol' one-two punch late in the year, huh boys? Well, good on ya, cause this album is awesome. Sounds like you've picked 5 awesome genres and figured out how to play them just right and made an album. Also, best music video the GPs can never make...thanks a lot, jerks.

4. Peter and the Wolf: Mellow Owl

Always consistent. Great album.

3. Smallhands: Smallhands

Ex-Fade singer/multi-instrumentalist's innovative and fresh debut. Need I say more?

2. Bill Callahan: Sometimes I Wish I Were an Eagle

This is the bomb album we are listening to. If you are not listening to this right now, why aren't you? Best songs, best lyrics, best dude.

1. Dirty Projectors: Bitte Orca

You've all heard my feelings about this. DPs are the jam. Best live show around, no questions. Most talented. Best Dressed. Fickle. Most Likely to succeed. Worst Hair. Most likely to fuck.

Lord Christopher Monckton is the worst fucking asshole ever. Seriously a real scumbag. Wouldn't care (would be happy) if he died.

Alright Alright. I've seen on THREE blogs in the last 24 hours talking about how Kevin's blog is amazing. Yeah yeah yeah, it's really good. Well fuck you very much, would Kevin ever put this on his blog????

Okay, Annie is right this time. Edith Zimmerman's very short stories are fantastic. Try not to enjoy the shit out of this...

A very short story.

I was washing my mug in the office kitchen when I heard someone come in behind me. I turned around and saw it was my friend Christina. She’s not really my friend, but she’s like an office friend. “Hey Christina, how’s it going?” I said.

“Oh, I’m good,” she said. “Tired.”

“Yeah,” I said. “I’m really tired, too.”

“Yeah,” she said. “I’m like, exhausted.”

“No kidding,” I said. “I’m totally drifting off at my desk.”

“Tell me about it. I’m like, about to fall over, literally.”

“Yeah, I was going to lie down on the floor right now,” I said.

“Oh yeah? I was actually already planning to do that,” she said as she lowered herself to the ground in front of the refrigerator.

I lowered myself down too, and shut my eyes. “Oh, this feels so good, I’m going to fall asleep, like, immediately.”

“Me too. I’m so tired I might never wake up.”

“Yeah, I was about to say—I bet I’ll die in my sleep.”

“I’ll definitely die—I drank poison earlier.”

“I drank poison, too,” I said.

Then we drifted into silence, and we both died in our sleep, at the office.

You're a real adult going to 30th birthday parties, Ben!

This movie was way better than I thought it would be. I actually really liked it. It was pretty touching. And sometimes really funny. I know some of you have some problems with Dave Eggers, but just chill out for a second.

A) One woman talks about how after she had kids, they sucked her dry. And they made her boobs look like wrinkly old nut sacks. And that she even grew hair on them. And she was making herself laugh a lot while she explained all this.

B) Maggie Gyllenhaal and her husband's characters are amazing. I won't explain them, but they make it worth watching.

So I was going to post about 'Her Ghost' by Jon Brion. It is the ultimate song. It's pop perfection and perfect production. I'd like to write more about it, but that's just not possible right now. And I couldn't find a version of it to embed here. But if you don't know it, you should really go listen to it.

I'll embed this instead. YouTube recommended to me. It's way better than your average self filmed song. And they look young. The chorus is tight!

Jay Z really is tight. I don't even really care about Grizzly Bear that much, but I love that him and Beyonce like them

also, this from Beyonce. also tight...

"There's so many people I'd like to work with still, but I'd like to maybe go outside of the box. My sister [Solange] has put me on to bands like Of Montreal and some other different types of artists. I would love to do something like that on my next album."
